What Ask Nicole AI Is

Ask Nicole AI is an educational AI-assisted companion inspired by Nicole Andrea Spencer's writing and teaching. It is not Nicole personally. It does not provide regulated financial, legal, medical, or therapeutic advice.

What We Collect

Questions you type. Your question text is sent to our server for processing. It is not permanently stored. Questions are held in memory only for the duration of generating a response, then discarded.

No account required. During private preview, there is no user account, no login, no email collection within the app itself. Access is granted by invitation only.

No analytics or tracking. The app does not use cookies, fingerprinting, advertising identifiers, or third-party analytics services.

Device storage. If you save a response, it is stored locally on your device only. It is not uploaded to any server.

How Questions Are Processed

When you submit a question, it is sent to our API server. The server checks for crisis language, sensitive personal data, and regulated advice triggers. If safe, the question is forwarded to OpenAI's API (GPT-4o-mini) for response generation.

OpenAI processing. OpenAI receives the text of your question along with a system prompt. Per OpenAI's API data usage policy, API inputs and outputs are not used to train their models. See OpenAI's API data usage policies for details.

No conversation history. Each question is processed independently. We do not maintain conversation threads or build a profile of your questions over time.

What We Do Not Collect

• Full name, address, or contact information
• Financial account numbers, policy numbers, or SIN/SSN
• Medical records or health information
• Location data or device identifiers
• Browsing history or usage analytics

Data Retention

Questions and responses are not stored on our servers beyond the immediate processing window (typically under 30 seconds). Server logs may record the timestamp and IP address of requests for rate-limiting purposes; these are held in memory and discarded when the server restarts.

Data You Should Not Enter

Do not enter: full policy or account numbers, Social Insurance Numbers, credit card numbers, passwords, detailed medical records, or information that could identify another person without their consent.

If sensitive data is detected, the app will refuse to process the question and advise you to rephrase.

Third-Party Services

OpenAI — API processing of questions (text only, no personal identifiers). Subject to their privacy policy.

No other third-party services receive your data.

Security

All communication between the app and our server uses HTTPS encryption. API keys are server-side only and never exposed to the client app. Rate limiting protects against abuse.

Children

Ask Nicole AI is not intended for users under 16. We do not knowingly process information from children.

Your Rights

Since we do not store personal data beyond immediate processing, there is nothing to delete or export. If you have saved responses on your device, you can clear them from the app's settings screen at any time.

Changes

This policy may be updated as the app develops. Material changes will be communicated to preview users before taking effect.

Canadian Privacy Law (PIPEDA)

This app is operated from Canada. We comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) principles of accountability, consent, limiting collection, and safeguards. Since we collect no personal information beyond transient question text, the privacy risk is minimal by design.
